Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has started preparations to develop the Tehri Lake region as a world-class tourism destination under the “One State, One Global Destination” initiative. During a meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan directed officials to prepare a comprehensive master plan for the Tehri Lake Ring Road and surrounding areas.

The proposed plan will include adventure tourism facilities, wellness centers, eco parks, scenic viewpoints, iconic bridges, and green walking tracks. The Chief Secretary stressed that while work can be carried out in phases, the overall development plan should be prepared as a complete vision.

He also emphasized improving end-to-end connectivity, road widening, and beautification while ensuring that the region’s greenery and natural beauty remain protected. The project will also include provisions for waterdromes, waterports, and seaplane operations.

Additionally, directions were issued to develop the helipad near Dobrachanti Bridge into a full-fledged heliport, with all departments asked to work in close coordination to transform Tehri into an international-level tourist destination.
