Dehradun/Chamoli: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced several initiatives to boost border tourism and strengthen local livelihoods in Chamoli district.

Speaking virtually at the prize distribution ceremony of the Niti Extreme Ultra Run, Dhami said community-based tourism will be promoted in villages such as Niti, Malari, Bampa and Kailashpur through the development of homestays and essential tourism infrastructure.

He also announced the installation of signages and viewpoint facilities across Niti Valley to improve the visitor experience.

To promote border tourism, a Seema Darshan Kendra (Border Tourism Interpretation Centre) will be established in the Rimkhim and Barahoti areas of Chamoli. In addition, infrastructure will be developed at Dupfudhar Ground in Gamshali village to support adventure tourism and large-scale events.

The initiatives are expected to boost tourism, create employment opportunities and strengthen the local economy in the region.
