AIIMS Rishikesh Enters Guinness World Records After Removing 35-Kg Bone Tumour

Rishikesh: AIIMS Rishikesh has achieved a historic medical milestone by entering the Guinness World Records for successfully removing a 35-kilogram bone tumour, reportedly the heaviest ever surgically removed.

The complex surgery was performed on June 9, 2025, on a 27-year-old man. A team of senior doctors successfully removed the massive tumour from the patient`s left thigh through a challenging multidisciplinary procedure.

The team included Prof. Dr. Mohit Dhingra from the Department of Orthopaedics, Prof. Dr. Anshuman Darbari, Head of the CTVS Department, and Prof. Dr. Madhuvari Vathulya from the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery.

Following a review and verification of the case, Guinness World Records officially recognised the achievement. AIIMS Rishikesh Executive Director Prof. Meenu Singh credited the milestone to the institute`s medical expertise and teamwork, reaffirming its commitment to quality patient care.
